Flowering Cherry
Flowering cherry trees have flowers in the spring, attractive leaves in the summer, bright colors in the fall, and interesting bark in the winter. These deciduous ornamental trees can be planted as a single specimen as a focal point or in a large border, lawn area, or garden. The showy white to rose-pink blooms appear early in early spring before the tree leaves out. The leaves are glossy dark green, although they emerge in the spring with a bronze tint and darken as the growing season advances. Their leaf shape is oblong to elliptical with serrated edges. In the fall, some trees have beautiful fall colors.
